In 2005-2006 integrated projects are introduced into the
lyceum educational system. This approach is entailed by
a thorough problem and certain elements: integrity,
scientific nature, analysis and synthesis of separate
facts and phenomena as well as searching for the ways of
problem resolving and introducing them into praxis.

In 2006-2007 academic year students of the 11th
form with lyceum managers and project-mentors outlined
the following project subject: “The Independence of
Ukraine. Ukrainian Diaspora”. J.Goldenberg, HoD
(history, social sciences), was appointed project
manager as well as group mentors L.Donenko,
O.Hryshchenko, L.Hrebeniuk, H.Karpiuk, V.Nazarov.
P.Kononenko, the director of the Research Institute of
Ukrainian Studies, Professor, Academician of the
Ukrainian Academy of Arts and Science, is the main
expert of Ukrainian Studies project.
Research project activity is aimed at promoting the
integrated scientific search of the 3rd year
students.
The target project task is getting the acquaintance of
the Ukrainian Diaspora’s conrtribution to making
Ukraine’s independence.
At the first stage of investigation work students
utilise accessible scientific issues, legal
certificates, subject journels at the resource and
information centres, the Net, browsing a range of
information in order to find out more about the
subject. Moreover visiting the countries of the
scientific research they had an excellent opportunity to
experience different aspects of ukrainian communities,
to meet Diaspora and embassy representatives, interview
them, collect video and photo materials. Students
visited Poland (at the head of T.Rozhdestvenska),
Kazakhstan (headed by H.Karpiuk), the USA (headed by I.Vernudina),
Great Britain (headed by L.Chernoskutova), Prydnistrove
(headed by I. Hryhorchak), the Russian Federation (head
J.Goldenberg).
At the second stage of investigation creative groups
were formed according to the area of researching point:

philology group was offered to certain issues on
education and arts of the Ukrainian communities as well
as ethnic identity;
· 32
history-philosophy investigated historical aspects of
the Ukrainian communities formation and their activity
for contribution to the making Ukarine independence;
· 33
economic group got the acquintance with the main
principals of economic activity of the Ukrainian people
living abroad;
· 34
law group students researched legal aspects of the
Ukrainian Diaspora.
At the third stage creative groups research was finally
integrated into the specific scientific project.
In addition to the integrated printed
research the project comprises appendices – a
ÑD
documentary and photo materials as well as a DVD-disk
with the documentary film based on the research
materials.
The Project defence-presentation
took place in September in the Kiev Teacher's Club. The
defence began with the solemn opening ceremony after
which the lyceum students presented the research. The
project appeared to be of a high scientific value and
topicality producing a profound emotional impression on
the public.
The panel board consisted of P.Kononenko
– director of the Research Institute of Ukrainian
Studies, Professor, Academician of the Ukrainian Academy
of Arts and Science; V.I.Serhejchuk – director of the
Ukrainian Studies Center of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv
National University, V.O.Shcherbak – the dean of
Humanities department of The Kyiv Mohyla Academy,
G.J.Bratchuk – the head of history Students’ Academy (SAS),
doctor of historical sciences; deputies of the Verhovna
Rada O.Bilozir, V.Polohalo, other scientists, managerial
representatives,city authorities, embassies
representatives of Poland and Canada, in particular
Peter Bates (Canadian Embassy), Christina Matsiv
(Canadian Business-Club). |
